Biography

Dr. Sanjeevkumar Kalkekar is a leading Interventional Cardiologist and structural heart disease Specialist in Mumbai, India and is recognized for his expertise in primary angioplasty. His areas of specialization include Radial and femoral Angiography and Angioplasty, TAVR, watchman device implantation permanent pacemaker implantation, and non-surgical MICRA pacemaker implantation. He is a proctor for Medtronic Micra pacemaker for entire western India. He is the first person to do TAVI in Navi Mumbai at a private setup. He is one of the two Cardiologists who has performed the LAAC watchman device implantation procedure in Mumbai.

He is the director of Dr. Kalkekar’s Cura advanced cardiac & child health clinic at sector 46 Seawoods Navi Mumbai and is full time consultant cardiologist at Apollo Hospital Navi Mumbai.



Dr. Kalkekar did his graduation and postgraduation in medical studies in Aurangabad and studied and trained for the cardiology super specialty at the renowned and prestigious Asian Heart Institute and Research Center in Mumbai.

He has extensively trained at the Asian Heart Institute and Research Centre and has performed some 12,000 interventional procedures in the last fourteen years

He then traveled to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to complete a Fellowship in Intervention Cardiology at Hahnemann Hospital in conjunction with Drexel University, where he received extensive training in coronary as well as peripheral interventions and salvage procedures.

After relocating to Louisiana he served as Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at Regional Medical Center of Acadiana. He was honored by the Medical Association for Physician's Recognition Award from March of 2015 through May 2016.
