Conditions requiring Liver transplant
• Liver cancer
• Hepatitis B and C virus infection

due to fat deposition in the liver which leads to inflammation and cellular level damage
• Liver damage due to excessive copper and iron build-up
A liver transplant is a surgery where a non-functioning liver is replaced by a healthy liver. The donor can be a cadaver or a living donor. Only a part of the living donor’s liver is needed, as the liver is an organ that regenerates and returns to its normal size in weeks.
A blood-compatible donor is needed to enable transplant once the fitness for transplant is determined.
