The surgery enables to relieve symptoms that are caused by the compression of the nerve root or the pressure on the spinal cord. The goal of the procedure is to relieve nerve compression (decompression) and, in patients with instability, to stabilize the spine (fusion), so that further compression and recurrent symptoms can be prevented. Physiotherapy is an important part of recovery from a spinal cord injury.
When does one need Spinal Decompression, Fusion, and Fixation?
When a patient has persistent and severe back pain and conservative treatment (physiotherapy and medications) are no longer helping relieve the symptoms. And, MRI / X-Ray shows compressed nerve and spinal instability, then the surgeon would recommend spinal surgery.

Hospital Stay
A hospital stay of around 4-6 days will be required. The hospital stay may vary depending on the post-operative medical condition of the patient.
